The Canadian Coalition for Youth, Peace & Security is a diverse network, our members lead initiatives on numerous different intersections with YPS.

Based on the findings of our research conducted in 2021-2022, we created the “Beyond Tokenism” toolkit, which offers practical tools and strategies to ensure that young people have genuine influence in decision-making spaces, transforming their involvement from symbolic to real leadership.

We strategically leverage Canada’s long-standing commitments to Women, Peace and Security to advance YPS priorities in both domestic and foreign policy. This approach, adopted by CCYPS’s founding members, has led to significant historic successes.

Thematic intersections with the Youth, Peace and Security resolutions is important. Our members have decided to highlight 2SLGBTQIA+ experiences in peace and security matters as a priority for our Coalition.

The Nerd-Out YPS podcast explores the intricacies of Youth, Peace and Security policies. Each episode offers expert insights into how YPS policies are shaped, implemented, and challenged at various levels, providing a deeper understanding of youth roles in peace and security frameworks.

Ahead of the High-Level Global Conference on Youth Inclusive Peace Processes held virtually in Doha, Qatar in 2022, we convened a pan-Canadian forum to outline young people’s expectations for Canada’s role in YPS.
